Virginia Commonwealth 2, GW 0

News and Notes:
Without the services of junior goalkeeper Derek Biss for a period in the second half – he was knocked out of the game with a concussion with 12 minutes left in the game – the Colonials fell 2-0 to VCU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Men’s basketball

Results from Nov. 28:
GW 87, Fairfield 70

News and Notes:
Junior forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu led GW scorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds. It was his first double-double of the season.

Women’s basketball

Results from Nov. 23:
Tennessee 71, GW 41

News and Notes:
The No. 1-ranked Volunteers handed the Colonials their first loss of the season. GW is 0-5 all-time against Tennessee.

Volleyball

Results from Nov. 27:
Nevada 3, GW 0

News and Notes:
GW ended its season with a 3-0 loss to the University of Nevada during Thanksgiving weekend. In their final collegiate match, seniors Katie Downey and Molly Law had 10 digs and eight kills, respectively.

Men’s Water Polo

Nov. 29:
GW’s Nick Koenemann was selected to the College Water Polo Association’s Southern Division All-Conference team. The senior scored a team high 53 goals for the Colonials (9-19 overall) this season.
