Lambda Chi Alpha holds blood donation drive

The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity will hold its first Blood Ball, a series of events on Friday and Saturday to collect blood donations and raise money for the American Red Cross.

A blood drive will take place Friday in Marvin Center room 307 from 3 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, the fraternity will sponsor a sorority volleyball tournament in the Health and Wellness Center from noon to 4 p.m. and a nighttime costume party at Singapore Bistro.

The Delta Gamma, Phi Sigma Sigma and Sigma Kappa sororities have been confirmed to play in the tournament, but there could be one or two other teams participating, Lambda Chi Alpha President Doug Fischer wrote in an e-mail.

The fraternity will donate all of the money raised from tournament entry fees and costume party’s $7 cover charge to the American Red Cross. Fischer said his fraternity hopes that “everyone can come out and help the American Red Cross” this weekend by getting involved in the Blood Ball.

Fischer added that the fraternity’s goal is to receive “at least 50 donations” of blood.
