Pi Kappa Phi members help raise $400,000 for charity

Three members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity participated in a cross country cycling race this summer that raised more than $400,000 for the Push America Foundation.

The national headquarters of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity organized the race, which had “70-plus participants.” They stopped in more than 100 cities in their nearly 4,000 mile-long race, Pi Kappa Phi member Sam Farber said. Push America is an organization that aids and raises funds for men and women with disabilities.

Farber participated in the race as a crew member. Each man was required to raise at least $5,000.

Farber added that he and his teammates often had long days of tiring travel only to find themselves sleeping on the floor of a local gym or church at night.

“There were a few nights when we had hotels sponsor us” for sleeping arrangements, but there was also one night when the race participants “slept on the floor of a barn,” Farber said.
