After four years of operation in Dupont Circle, the Visions Cinema and Bistro Lounge closed last Thursday due to a year and a half of financial losses. During its lifetime, Visions’ showbills were comprised strictly of independent, foreign and cult films. Every Friday night the theater held midnight screenings for customers of all ages of films like “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Donnie Darko” and “Bubba Ho-Tep.” The same films were screened Saturdays at midnight with kegs of beer at the theater’s front.
Last Sunday, Visions held an open farewell party to the public at which movie posters and other regalia were auctioned off.
