Finance committee proposes allocation change
The Student Association Finance Committee drafted legislation at a meeting Monday night that would require student organizations requesting $2,000 in co-sponsorship funding to present their case in person. Currently, student organization representatives must appear in person for co-sponsorship requests of $2,500 or more.
Jordyn Cosme, Finance Committee chair-elect, said his committee decreased the minimum amount because $2,000 is still a large amount of money.
The legislation also re-words the original allocation bills to make them more clear, Cosme said.
“In the past, some of the bills said some things that could be interpreted different ways,” he said. “For example, we cited specific bylaws that weren’t cited before.”
The committee also passed a similar piece of legislation to make rules for summer allocations clearer.
“The changes aren’t really substantive, they’re more linguistical,” Cosme said.
The Senate-elect will vote on both bills at its April 27 meeting.
