GW in brief

GW to partner with Virginia Tech

GW’s College of Professional Studies announced March 26 a partnership with Virginia Tech that will focus on offering the first Master of Landscape Architecture in the D.C. area.

Upon application, students will be simultaneously admitted to Virginia Tech and GW. The program will give current GW students the opportunity to apply to Virginia Tech’s M.L.A. degree program.

GW’s Landscape Design program has existed for 30 years, but it recently converted into a GW Graduate Certificate in Landscape Design.

Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald R. Lehman said in a press release, “This partnership will raise the quality, stature and marketability of both programs through mutually beneficial cooperation and curriculum coordination.”

Kayne West to headline Spring Fling

Rapper Kayne West and local D.C. artist The Speaks are set to perform at the Program Board’s annual Spring Fling April 17.

West is described as representing the “truisms” of life in a unique hip-hop tone. Program Board Co-chair Zan Sabini said West is the perfect artist to represent PB’s “Bling-Bling,” theme this year.

The event, held from 12 to 6 p.m., is free to all students with a GWorld card. The event will feature various activities including a mechanical bull, obstacle course, dunk tank and seven carnival booths.

The first 1,200 students to arrive at the event will receive free shirts. Free food will also be available during the day.
