Hart lobbies for on-campus beer sales

Student Association President Kris Hart said he is discussing with administrators the possibility of serving beer in the Hippodrome.

Hart said he would like to see alcohol sales commence within the next few years, and is working with officials to make it a reality. He also said students would not be able to pay on Colonial Cash and would have a drink limit if the Hippodrome sells drinks.

“(It) would be a fun thing for grads to do,” Hart said. “(They could) drink a few beers, play some rounds of pool and go bowling.”

GW’s University Club, located at 1918 F St., currently sells alcohol to students over the age of 21.

President-Elect addresses Senate

In his first speech before the Student Association as its president-elect, junior Omar Woodard Tuesday commended his run-off opponent and said he is enthusiastic about leading the organization.

“I’d like to thank the distinguished Senator Lee Roupas (U-At-Large) for a wonderful campaign,” Woodard said, initiating a round of applause that lasted until the presidential runner-up tipped forward his olive-colored cowboy hat.

Woodard said he hopes to continue current senators’ proposals through next year, if they are unfinished by the end of their terms. He also urged senators to contact him via e-mail with their questions and concerns.
