Members of Theta Delta Chi fraternity will transform Kogan Plaza into a living room next week to raise money for people living with cancer.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. next Wednesday and Thursday, the fraternity members will try to collect money by sitting for the longest amount of time they can. Each participating member has a sponsor who will pay a set amount for the number of hours the member remains on Kogan Plaza.

The fraternity will have three couches and televisions set up for watching movies and playing video games.

Two members of the Washington Redskins cheerleading squad will join the fraternity members at the event. The women will pose for snapshots in exchange for a $5 donation toward the charity.

Students and passersby can also make direct contributions.

All proceeds will go to the V-Foundation, which promotes cancer awareness and provides financial support for those afflicted with the disease.

Members said they are optimistic about the event, despite recent cold weather.

“Anything worth doing is difficult,” said Gabi Gillett, senior executive of Theta Delta Chi. “And I can’t image anything more difficult than sitting outside for two days right now.”

Sponsors for the event include Au Bon Pain, the Froggy Bottom Pub and Tower Records.
