Forchion will play Saturday

Junior Tamal Forchion said he expects to play in the GW men’s basketball team’s second exhibition game against the E.A. Sports All Stars on Saturday. The forward missed the team’s first exhibition after straining his left groin but has had a good week of practices, head coach Karl Hobbs said. Saturday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. at the Smith Center.

A-10 awards Moss, Flaherty

The GW men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both defeated La Salle over the weekend, earning two Colonials individual conference honors as a result.

Sophomore Maggie Moss was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week after winning the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke. Her performance helped lead the women over the Explorers, 125-117.

Senior Kristen Fagley and junior Kristin Rasmuson also won two events each.

For the men, freshman Sean Flaherty won A-10 Rookie of the Week after winning the 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle events. Flaherty was also a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team, helping the men edge the Explorers 122-121.
