Club Roundup

Men’s Volleyball

The men’s volleyball club played its first match this year Saturday against Georgetown, falling 3-2. This weekend the Colonials compete in the Maryland Octoberfest Tournament, where GW will take on teams such as Penn State University, the U.S. Naval Academy and the host Terrapins. The Colonials will also take part in the James Madison University Tournament on Nov. 15.

Women’s Volleyball

The women’s volleyball club has played two matches so far this season. The Colonials won 3-1 against Loyola University, but GW then fell to Georgetown Saturday, 3-2. Led by team captain Randi Johnson, the Colonials will play Georgetown and Loyola again this Saturday at the Mount Vernon gym at 2 p.m.

Women’s Rugby

The women’s rugby club faced American this past weekend and played to a 0-0 tie. So far, the season’s biggest win came when the Colonials destroyed Washington College, 49-0. This weekend, GW will take on Mary Washington College.

Field Hockey

The field hockey club traveled to Easton, Pa., this past weekend and beat Lafayette College, 4-0, in what club co-President Natalie Beck called the team’s best win this season. Tatiana Karas scored two goals in the victory, with Sarita Borgenicht and P. Jay Yap-Diangco each adding another goal.

Ice Hockey

The ice hockey club is currently 2-1 after a 6-4 win this weekend over Virginia Commonwealth University. VCU was supposed to be one of the Colonials’ toughest opponents after the Rams went to nationals last year.

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee traveled to three tournaments this fall and played roughly 21 games total, winning about half of those contests, co-captain Dana Dasch said.
Men’s Lacrosse

GW finished 3-1 in the Maryland Fall Brawl Tournament at the end of September and beat Johns Hopkins University 15-1 and Shepard University 14-1 in October. The team’s final game of the fall season is Sunday at 2 p.m. against Georgetown.
