Women’s basketball to host Tennessee in Smith Center

The GW women’s basketball schedule has not been released yet, but head coach Joe McKeown told The Hatchet last week that the University of Tennessee will headline a packed home schedule in non-conference play.

In addition to hosting the Lady Vols in late December, the Colonials will play Georgetown, Boston College, Syracuse Univeristy and the University of Oregon.

“I’d like to continue playing (Tennessee) or UConn every year,” McKeown said. “I don’t want to play both of them every year, but when you get the number one or two team in the country coming into your building, it’s a great atmosphere.”

Unlike in 2001, however, the Colonials will have to battle the Lady Vols without the benefit of having students on campus for the game.
