GW ranked fifth on A-10 student-athlete honor roll
GW placed fifth on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll last Thursday, with 165 student-athletes making the list. All student-athletes currently holding a 3.0 cumulative GPA made the honor roll, which totaled 1,783 students from the 12 A-10 universities.

Women’s rowing led GW with 27 student-athletes on the list, while the men’s and women’s basketball teams placed lowest, combining to put only five students on the honor roll.

The list did not include the GW men’s rowing, squash and men’s and women’s water polo teams, which are not recognized by the A-10.

The freshman class placed the most students on the honor roll for GW with 51, while the junior class fared the worst with 33.

Duquesne placed first on the list with 211 student-athletes making the honor roll. La Salle, Dayton and Massachusetts also finishing ahead of GW in order.

GW’s 165 total marked a four-student increase from last year.

Lacrosse game cancelled
The GW softball team’s doubleheader against George Mason Tuesday was postponed until 2 p.m. Friday. At 2-25 overall and 0-10 in the Atlantic 10, the last-place Colonials will be looking for just their third win of their inaugural season.

Softball doubleheader rescheduled
The GW women’s lacrosse team’s Tuesday game against Lehigh University was rescheduled for Wednesday then canceled, as Lehigh opted to practice for this weekend’s Patriot League Tournament instead of playing the scheduled game at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.

The Colonials (6-7, 1-5 Atlantic 10) have only two games remaining this season. GW plays Friday in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins before hosting St. Bonaventure Sunday at home at noon.

Volleyball coach to host skills clinic
GW women’s volleyball head coach Jojit Coronel will host the second annual Adult All-skills Clinic next weekend for $75 a person. The fee will cover five nights of instruction at the Smith Center May 5-9 from 6:45 to 10 p.m.

Anyone interested in participating in the clinic may call Coronel at 994-5879 to reserve a spot.
