Web Exclusive: Swimming and Diving spilt home meet

Freshman Maggie Moss led the GW women’s swimming team to a 145.5-132.5 victory over Massachusetts Saturday, taking first place in three events. With the win, the women evened their record to 4-4.

Moss, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, won the 100-yard backstroke (0:58.21), the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.84) and the 200-yard backstroke (0:58.21). She was supported by her teammate Ruth Dubyel who won the 100-yard butterfly (0:58.15) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.05).

Kristen Fagley, Kristen Rasmuson and Suzanna Zifkin also won races for the women.

The men did not share the women’s fortune, losing their ninth-straight meet of the season despite taking seven of the 12 events they entered.

Freshman Sean Kernan won two events including the 50-yard freestyle (0:22.15) and the 100-yard freestyle (0:48.62). Junior Josh Roberts also won two events for the men including the 100 and 200-yard breast stroke.

Andrew De Sorbo and Bryan Ferretti also took first place finishes for the men.
