Meeting to be held at Mount Vernon

In an effort to improve relations with those living on the Mount Vernon campus, next week’s Tuesday Senate meeting will be held at 9 p.m. in the Eckles Library lecture hall, a first for the Senate. Mount Vernon Dean Grey Baxter will attend the meeting. The Academic Affairs and Student Life committees will present reports.

The Student Association is also planning more town hall meetings with students, particularly with those outside of undergraduate programs, including the University’s law and medical schools.

“We want to make sure students in these (schools) know that student government on campus represents them too,” SA Executive Vice President Eric Daleo said.

The Senate will also hold a meeting Monday beginning at 9 p.m. in the Marvin Center ballroom to accommodate the 40 pieces of legislation the body proposed and considered over winter break. It will feature a presentation on school-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations by Marisela Martinez, director of Multicultural Student Services. Senators are set to discuss committee reports from the Finance and Rules committees.

Daleo said the SA has a “very, very aggressive semester planned.”
