Novice Crews Finish Season Strong at Princeton

The novice crews finished strong at the Belly of the Carnegie, the team’s last race of the season, at Princeton Nov 10.

Head Coach Steve Peterson said the competition, which included many top crews on the East Coast, was a good indicator of how the team would do in the spring season. The men’s novice team finished 21st while the women finished 19th.

Both coaches were optimistic about their team’s heading into the spring season.

Men’s novice coach Jim O’Conner said his team would use the race as a stepping stone for their winter training. Women’s novice coach Helen Betancourt said the race should help her team pick up ground as her team gets in shape and becomes more technically proficient for the spring season.

Princeton University won the men’s race, followed by two Harvard boats. On the women’s side, Cornell University finished first, with two Princeton boats close behind.
