Swimmers split JMU meet

The GW women’s swimming team edged out host James Madison for a one-point win Friday, while the men fell to JMU 127-107. After winning the last two events of the meet, the women took the victory 120-119.

Sophomore Kirsten Rasmuson led the women with first place finishes in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, while freshman Caitlin Hyde won the 200 individual medley. Junior Ruth Dubyel (100 butterfly), freshman Maggie Moss (100 backstroke) and junior Kristen Fagley (500 freestyle) also took home first place in their respective events for the Colonials.

The GW men recorded first place finishes in four events despite falling to JMU by 20 points. While GW won the freestyle relay, a team event, sophomore Bryan Ferretti won the 1,000 freestyle, junior Andrew De Sorbo won the 100 butterfly and freshman Mark Adams won the 100 breaststroke.
