I was absolutely appalled to read the comment made by a student regarding professor Tom Nagy’s humanitarian mission (“Prof travels to Iraq,” Oct. 21, p.1). This so-called “highly partisan crusader who is trying to fill the minds of his students with blatant propaganda” is one of the few professors at this school that is so passionate about a cause that he would actually put his life in danger. To be exposed to an individual such as Prof. Nagy would be an honor to me. However, if it “sickens you” that a person like him teaches here, just don’t take one of his graduate level classes and let him go about helping children in Iraq. Spitefully criticizing him for these efforts because you do not agree with the partisanship that is behind the issue in Washington is nonsensical. Professor Nagy is inspiring in his efforts and should be commended, not criticized.
