I found the headline “TGIF’s alleges fraud” (Oct. 14, p.1) to be very misleading. Unless there is something about the situation that was not printed, TGI Friday’s is not alleging fraud.
Fraud, according to Random House Webster’s College Dictionary, is “deceit or trickery perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.” Selling someone a car that does not run (and claiming that it does) is fraud. TGI Friday’s is just saying that GW owes them money.
