SA announces student group allocations

Sen. Dan Moss (SBPM-U) and the Senate Finance Committee announced initial student group allocations Monday. The Senate will allocate the largest sum to the Medical Center Student Council, set to receive $32,550 of the $403,007 given to groups .

The SA allocated $24,045 to the Student Bar Association. The College Democrats and College Republicans will both receive $9,450. The Panhellenic Association follows closely with an allocation of $9,188.

Executive Vice President Eric Daleo canceled a previously planned emergency Senate meeting to debate the allocations set for Thursday because many senators could not attend groups were not notified far enough in advance. SA by-laws require the Senate to notify groups of their allocation 72 hours before the Senate meets to debate. The Senate did not notify groups this week. The meeting to debate the allocations will occur at the Senate meeting Tuesday.

Daleo elected vice-chairman of D.C. student alliance

Metropolitan University Student Alliance leaders elected Daleo vice chairman Wednesday. The group links area University student leadership, including delegates from GW, Georgetown and American, and brings student concerns to District leaders. Daleo said he hopes to create reduced-fare student Metro cards through the MUSA.

Student groups register voters

The SA, College Democrats, College Republicans and Voices for Choices will host a voter registration drive in the Marvin Center basement computer lab Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
