Letter: Stopping the hate

The Muslim Students’ Association at GW offers its prayers and sympathy to everyone around the world who lost loved ones one year ago in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.

One lesson we can all learn from the tragedy of September 11 is found in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s words. He said, “violence merely increases hate.” Let us all stand together in ending hate of any kind in the hopes of preventing anything like this from ever happening again.

And let us also remember that peace will come only through understanding and justice, actions that are promoted in the Qur’an and practiced by over 1 billion Muslims around the world.
