Club sports are a step down from varsity sports and range in their levels of competitiveness from sport to sport. The men’s ice hockey team, for example, is very competitive and has won national championships, while the volleyball team is not as competitive. Members travel for matches and games but most are usually locally scheduled and played. The process of joining a club team varies. The more competitive clubs hold tryouts, but most do not. Club sports run like any other student organization, with a president who organizes practices, finds opponents and schedules tournaments.

Intramural sports provide athletic opportunities for non-varsity athletes, but are not intercollegiate and require less commitment than club sports. RSFS offers about 40 different intramural tournaments a year and students can form teams to enter as many tournaments as they like. Student organizations, such as fraternities and sororities, often field teams.
