The GW women’s rugby club won two matches as the youngest entry and the only collegiate team in last weekend’s Ruggerfest. The tournament at Rosecroft Raceway in Maryland included 13 teams. This is GW’s best finish so far in its third year in the tournament.
The women capped off the Ruggerfest by pulling off a close 7-5 win on a conversion kick by Megan Billingsley against the Norfolk Storm.
“The game was amazing, and our defense was great,” junior loose head prop Deirdre Ehlen said. “We worked as a team and everything came together.”
Prior to beating the Storm, GW lost to United States United Health Services and beat Camp Lejeune, a Marine base in Jacksonville, N.C. –Lauren Silva
