BAR BELLE: Cities

Cities
Where: Adam’s Morgan
Pluses: it’s fun with all your friends
Minuses: expensive and small

If any of you were around last year at this time you would be able to recall the visit to Caf? Japone. Well, it was around that time again for celebrating a very cool girl’s birthday. To quote last year’s fun, “The birthday girl was both surprised and delighted with her gift. It was the smallest plastic phallus available on the North American sex toy market.” There was none of that good old-fashioned coital toy fun this time. Oh, don’t you worry, there were scandals a-plenty – you just had to come in for a closer look.

The waiters never let the wine glasses go empty, and at one point the Bar Belle had to have a glass of red wine just to make sure she wasn’t missing out. So, basically she was pulling the standard double fist. Classy.

One friend across the table flew solo with a bottle of red wine and finished it in record time. Holding the bottle above her head in victory, votes were cast to predict who would get too drunk for the main course and be dismissed. The Bar Belle typically doesn’t talk about food, but this place was amazing and totally worth it. Everyone there was very accommodating and the atmosphere encouraged conversation.

After dinner, the party adjourned to the second floor of Cities where there was dancing. From what the Bar Belle can remember, the music was good and there were actually people from GW there. She wouldn’t recommend going there for an entire Saturday night, unless you want a more low-key crowd, but it was a great place for a birthday party because it was small. Drinks with Absolut were around $8 or 9 bucks, which from the Belle’s experience isn’t bad since it’s the real stuff, and the bartenders were really great.

The night continued at a pajama party at the Swamp until the wee hours of the morn when the Bar Belle made her way home to a hell-hole of a dorm and wished through the night for better air-conditioning.
