Lehigh University defeated the GW women’s lacrosse team 11-6 Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa. GW freshmen Heidi Mayer and Jamie Lee combined for all six GW goals, with Mayer netting four and Lee adding two plus an assist. Striker Jacqueline Arfaa also added an assist.
The Mountain Hawks overcame a 2-1 deficit and scored six unanswered goals on GW goalkeeper Casey Atkins (13 saves, 11 goals) to take a 7-2 lead into halftime. Atkins, who did not play in Wednesday’s win against Howard, was shelled last week, as she allowed 33 goals in two losses two Temple and St. Joseph’s.
The Colonials (4-8, 0-4 Atlantic 10) play conference opponents St. Bonaventure and Duquesne on the road next Saturday and Sunday.
