Crime Log

Sexual Assault

3/20 Hall on Virginia Avenue
A male Georgetown University student reported he was forcibly fondled while visiting GW. After spending an evening “hanging out” with a male GW student, the Georgetown student reported that he woke up to the student touching him in a private area.
Referred to SJS. Closed.

Simple Assault

3/17 Lafayette Hall
Two male students tried to hold down a female student and force her to consume alcohol. She eventually broke free. The suspects were identified after the victim filed the report. Referred to SJS.

Fraud

3/14 University Garage
A student tried to use a fraudulent validation stamp. When he realized the parking attendant was writing down his license information, he backed the car into a parking space and fled on foot When the subject was questioned, he initially gave false statements to UPD investigators, until finally confessing to the crime.

Bomb Threat

3/19 Tower Records
A UPD officer noticed MPD blocking 21st street between H and I streets. Responding to a bomb threat at Tower Records, MPD evacuated the store and sent in bomb-sniffing dogs. No explosive materials were discovered.

Drug Law Violation

3/14 Thurston Hall
A community facilitator smelled marijuana on his floor and identified the room from where the smell came. CLLC conducted an administrative search. Marijuana and marijuana-related paraphernalia were discovered. Referred to SJS.

Destruction of Property

3/14 University Garage
A student reported her parked vehicle was broken into between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A purse left in the front seat was stolen. By the time the victim called to report her credit cards missing, $500 had been charged to her Visa card.

3/21 University Garage
A person who left their car at the University Parking garage at 8:30 a.m. returned at 3:30 p.m. to find the driver’s window broken. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.

3/24 Thurston Hall
A student noticed that the white-board on his door had been marked. Several other doors on the floor were also marked with a swastika. No pattern could be established. No suspects or witnesses.

Theft

3/14 Mitchell Hall
A student reported the bicycle he locked to a pole had been stolen. He noticed it missing at 12 p.m. March 14.

3/16 Woodhull House
A student reported the bicycle he tied to a pole outside of University Police headquarters had been stolen between March 13 and 15.

3/18 Thurston Hall
A student reported unauthorized charges on her credit card. The card was not missing. The student believes someone took the card, used it, and put it back. UPD is investigating based on the student’s leads.

3/18 Funger Hall
An employee reported her wallet had been stolen out of her office. When she called her credit card company to cancel her card, 15 charges had been made to the account.

Shoplifting

3/22 Marvin Center
A subject put an orange into his shopping bag and attempted to walk away with it. When a cashier asked the subject if he planned to pay for the orange, the subject put the orange back and walked away. UPD was called, the subject could not be identified.
