Gymnasts sweep JMU

The GW gymnastics team swept first, second and third places in all four individual events and took first and second places in the all-around in their 194.3-184.3 victory over James Madison University Wednesday night at the Smith Center.

Devin McCalla, who was recently named A-10 Performer of the Week, took first in the all-around (39.325), floor exercises (9.875) and vault (9.875), second on beam (9.800) and third on bars (9.775).

Jessica Mantak took second in the all-around (38.475), first on beam (9.850) and third on floor (9.825). Rachel Mann also placed in the top three in three events, tying for first on bars (9.800) with teammate Amber Melvin.

McCalla’s conference honor is her fifth this season. She ranks first in the A-10 on the balance beam (9.900), the vault (9.850), and all-around (39.450). She ranks second on uneven bars (9.900) and floor (9.925).

McCalla and the Colonials look to continue their sucess with a win over Michigan State in their next home meet, Saturday March 9.
