Baseball drops two of three in California

The GW baseball team dropped two of three games in the Cal State Northridge Tournament this weekend.

The Colonials overcame a three-run first inning by Purdue to comeback for a 5-4 victory Sunday. Mike Bassett hit 3-for-4 on the day. Justin Orenduff (2-0) pitched the win while starter Greg Conden had a no decision.

Missed scoring opportunities hurt GW’s efforts in Saturday’s 6-0 loss to Cal State Northridge. Jason Baker (0-3) took the loss. He had six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

GW fared better against University of Las Vegas in their first game Friday but still fell 6-3. UNLV used their first three innings to put up a substantial lead, scoring four runs on five hits. Pitcher Chris Worth (0-2) took the loss after his seven innings.
