Water polo splits weekend

GW goalie Lisa Greenfield recorded a team record 19 saves in the team’s 8-6 loss at Slippery Rock Sunday, a match head coach Scott Reed called his team’s best effort yet. GW opened the three-match series with an 8-7 win over Slippery Rock in which Kira Canon scored four goals.

After the opening win, GW defeated Bucknell University 6-3. The Colonials jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second quarter, which they took into halftime. The Colonials increased their lead to 3-0 before the Bison scored with 3:35 left in the third quarter. GW then struck back with two goals scored within 1:02 to take a 5-1 lead. The Bison scored with 14 seconds remaining in the period to make it 5-2 and keep the game alive.

The Colonials scored an insurance goal in the final quarter and also conceded one more goal for a 6-3 final.
