40 women to perform Vagina Monologues

A cast of more than 40 GW women will perform “The Vagina Monologues” to raise money for local charities this weekend.

The event is sponsored by the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and will run 8-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at the Dorothy Marvin Betts theatre.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.

Mayors will celebrate Foggy Bottom anniversary

D.C. mayors past and present will attend the Foggy Bottom Ball Feb. 23 to celebrate GW’s 90th year in the neighborhood.

D.C. mayor Anthony Williams and former mayors Walter Washington, Marion Barry and Sharon Pratt will join President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg for a night of food, live music, dancing, photography and other entertainment.

The party is being held at the Watergate Hotel and is open to the entire GW and Foggy Bottom community.

The event will commence in the Watergate Grand Ballroom at 8 p.m. and end at 12 a.m. The dress code is black tie, and tickets are being sold at Rice Hall 504 for $40.

Former Israeli Supreme Court justice to address Law

Former Israeli Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Bach will discuss “The Rule of Law in Times of Crisis” Monday at 4 p.m.

The discussion will be held in Lerner Hall room L401 and is open to the public.

Bach retired from the Israeli Supreme Court in 1997. He now acts as a judge of the Army Court of Appeals.

Students to parade Saturday

All GW students are invited to march in a parade Saturday morning at 10 a.m. before the GW men’s basketball game against Temple University.

The parade will begin at Kogan Plaza, and students will follow a GW trolley with banners promoting their group or the Colonials.

It will end at the Smith Center, where bagels and coffee will be awaiting participants.

UPD expects about 200 people to take part in the march, which will last about 15 minutes.

GW athletes to hold date auction

Twenty groups of athletes will take the stage Thursday in a charity date auction.

Proceeds from the event will go to Miriam’s Kitchen, a local soup kitchen. It will be held in the Hippodrome and will run from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Entrance is free, and the cost of bidding is $1.

Seniors to begin grad countdown

The Senior Class Council is hosting a spirit game Friday to kick off the 100 days until graduation countdown.

The GW women’s basketball team will face Duquesne in the Smith Center at 7 p.m. with a tribute to senior athletes at halftime.

There will be giveaways, and a post party will be held at the Alumni House with free drinks and appetizers.

The party is limited to the first 200 seniors who attend.

NAACP hosts ‘Soul Revue’

GW’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is hosting its third annual “Soul Revue” Friday at 9:15 p.m. at the Marvin Center’s Columbia Square eating area.

The event will include reproductions of scenes from Fame and acts of Erykah Badu, Jodeci and Boyz II Men.

The tickets will cost $5 in advance, available from any cast member, or $6 at the door.

University Club continues ‘In the Know Series’

U.S. News and World Report contributing editor Gloria Borger will headline the University Club’s second in a series of luncheon conversations and will address politics and reporting in D.C. next week.

Borger has served as special correspondent for CBS News and a regular panelist on PBS “Washington Week in Review.”

The lecture and question and answer session will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the University Club, located at 1918 F St.

The lunch is offered for $15 per person and is open to club members and friends of the University.

Reservations are required because seating is limited.
