Swimming struggles at UMBC

GW men’s and swimming teams suffered losses in a tri-meet Sunday afternoon at the Universty of Maryland-Baltimore County. UMBC defeated the men’s team 157-63 while the women lost 149-93.

Sophomores Ruth Dubyel and Kristen Fagley led the GW women’s swimming team to a second-place finish in a tri-meet with George Mason and St. Bonaventure at the Smith Center Saturday. The men’s team placed last.

Dubyel took first place in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.42, a season best. Fagley finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.12). George Mason won the overall meet for the women.

GW’s David Dillehay captured first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.45) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:46.71). St. Bonaventure won that meet. -Lauren Silva
