I read Russ Rizzo’s column “Inside Our Pages” Jan. 22 with a mix of amusement and concern. I don’t mean to be rude, but it’s somewhat comical to compare The Hatchet to the New York Times. Don’t take this the wrong way. I’ve read each issue of The Hatchet more or less since I’ve been here, but it’s a college newspaper not something that’s read worldwide.

My concern comes from the ridiculousness of asking people to register and provide demographic information to read The Hatchet. The ads on this page are too much as it is. If your hosting company requires this, than move somewhere else; better yet, move the paper’s Web site onsite, which is such an obvious option that I’m confused why it hasn’t been selected yet. We have the facilities and the personnel for it, so why not ditch the ads, the registration and provide an online newspaper portal worthy of those that you’re comparing it to in your column?
