There has been a lot said about dissension between the ever-expanding GW presence and the Foggy Bottom residential community.
The personalities and greater issues aside, there is at least one practical action that could make the situation a lot better. The biggest complaint of residents against the student population comes down to one of noise.
It is not living with young adults that is the problem; rather it is living with young adults who act like bad-mannered 12-year-olds.
If students want to do something to ease tensions, keep down the street noise. Loud conversations carry down the street. Likewise, yelling and whooping are loud and obnoxious. So, yes, there is something that can be done to make things better – a little respect for others. Keep your voices down!
