Two members of the GW volleyball team earned conference honors last weekend in voting conducted among the conferences head coaches. Sophomore Ruth Lazzari was named to the All-Conference team and freshman Britta Stroman was named to the All-Rookie team.
Lazzari, the outside hitter from Seal Beach, Calif., led the Colonials with a .189 hitting percentage, averaging 3.41 kills, .33 blocks, 3.15 digs and .33 assists per game.
Stroman, the freshman outside hitter from Edina, Minn., hit .210 on the season, averaging 2.41 kills, .59 blocks, 1.3 digs and .14 assists.
Despite their efforts, the Colonials failed to make the Atlantic 10 tournament this season, finished the season in seventh place.
Xavier senior Sara Bachus was named A-10 Player of the Year, only the second player to earn the award twice. The only other player to do it was GW’s Svetlana Vtyurina in ’92 and ’95.
