Brief: Hiscock, Fanitzi win title

Juniors Joshua Hiscock and Christina Fanitzi were named Mr. and Miss All-Around Campus by the GW Blitz Thursday night at the Hippodrome.

They were nominated in late October with five other GW men and women for the title. The winners received a trophy and a $100 gift certificate to D.C. restaurants. Voting was conducted online on the publication’s Web site.

“This was a really cool thing. I definitely didn’t think I was going to win,” Fanitzi said. “I was so excited.”

Fanitzi, an international business major, is executive vice president of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and is an Army ROTC cadet sergeant. She said she does not know who nominated her.

Hiscock, a community facilitator for the Press Room living and learning community in the Hall on Virginia Avenue, said he thinks students on his floor nominated him for the title.

“It’s a pretty cool honor,” he said. “Obviously I don’t do things to be recognized, but it’s a lot of fun.”

An American Studies major and a STAR program co-coordinator, Hiscock said he thought the voting would be tight because three other candidates are fraternity members.
