WEB EXCLUSIVE: Cross Country falters at NCAA run

GW Cross Country had a rough time at this weekend’s NCAA Division One Cross Country Run, finishing 21st out of 26 teams in the women’s race and 23rd out of 29 teams in the men’s race. The top two teams and the top 10 individual finishers in each race received an automatic berth to the NCAA national championships.

Georgetown swept the first four individual spots in the women’s race to take first place, followed by Villanova University. Bucknell University finished third but will not receive an automatic berth. Each team had eight runners, and team scores were tabulated by throwing out the low score and averaging the top five.

Emily Jadwin was the top GW finisher for the women coming in 112th. Mary Beth McCullough, Jenee Peterson, Erin Patton and Mary Bolton rounded out the top five for the Colonials.

Villanova won the men’s race and also claimed the top two individual spots. Georgetown finished second followed by Princeton University.

The top men’s Colonial was Darrell Andruski at 76th, with David Talbird, David Azari, Christopher Zurich and Zachary Holt also contributing scores.
