BB&T Classic tickets go on sale Thursday

Tickets for the Dec 2-3 BB&T Classic featuring the GW men’s basketball team and the universities of Connecticut, Maryland and Princeton go on sale Thursday through Ticketmaster outlets or by phone.

The tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon with national championship contender University of Maryland meeting Princeton University in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader. Maryland returns four starters from last year’s team, including Lonny Baxter and Juan Dixon.

Following the game, GW head coach Karl Hobbs will lead his Colonials against UConn, his former team of eight years.

The consolation match will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. with the championship at 8 p.m.

GW and Maryland have faced off in the past two tournament championships. GW won the first contest two years while Maryland defeated GW 71-63 for the tourney title last year.

Tickets for all tournament games range from $40 to $70 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster outlets, including the MCI Box office. Proceeds benefit D.C.’s Children’s Charities Foundation.
