The United States Naval Academy handed the GW women’s soccer team its first shutout this season Monday night, a 2-0 loss at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md.

Navy unleashed 10 shots on goal in the first half alone and scored their first goal at the 32-minute mark when Katie Eames fired a shot past GW goalkeeper Christine O’Malley. Stacey Finley beat O’Malley at the 46th-minute mark, giving Navy a 2-0 lead.

GW fired 14 shots on goal, including Erin Coppedge’s attempt that bounced off the crossbar.

The Colonials play the Terrapins at Maryland Friday at 7 p.m., before starting conference play Sept. 24 at Richmond.
