GW runners set personal records

GW runners Matt Kascak and David Talbird turned in personal record performances Saturday at a Towson University meet. Talbird finished the 5,000-meter event in 15:43, just three seconds ahead of Kascak’s 15:46.

David Azari finished the 1,500-meter run in 4:10, just three seconds shy of the school record. The record was set two weekends ago by Talbird, who was running the 1,500 for the first time. He finished the Bucknell University race in 4:07.

Sophomore Laura Jennings finished sixth out of 32 runners Saturday in the women’s 800-meter. GW’s top male sprinter, Giannas Doulamis ran a 2:05 in the 800-meter race.

In the race at Bucknell, Brande Dietrich completed the women’s steeplechase in an impressive 12:59. The senior from Chicago is receiving a commission from the United States Naval Academy and will attend Naval Flight school.

The Colonials will race next on May 5 at George Mason.
