The Student Association Student Court dismissed an appeal by former SA presidential candidates Dan Loren and Bob Simon Tuesday night after deciding that the Joint Elections Committee did not act negligently handling evidence against President-elect Roger Kapoor.
The decision paves the way for Kapoor’s certification as the new SA president Friday, Kapoor said.
“The court has not seen any conclusive evidence that indicates that the JEC ruling is in violation of the JEC charter,” Justice Alison Rappaport wrote in a summary judgement.
Kapoor said the decision allows him to move on with his transition to office and past court battles that defined the election.
Loren said he was disappointed by the court’s decision, and will not pursue the matter further.
“This looks like the last step, unfortunately,” Loren said. “We don’t have time to pursue any more litigation.”
Loren said the court should have heard the case.
“From here on out it looks like the Loren campaign is done trying to right the wrong,” he said.
Kapoor said that he was informed that all winners of SA election elections will be certified by this Friday.
