The article, “Xavier shoots down GW in title match” is the best I have ever read in The Hatchet’s sports section (March 8, p. 12). I agree with Zach Leibowitz’s advice (“Three-point Musketeers had their day. Bid deal.”). Let me add some more. Our women’s team cannot let anybody get up 9-0 or even 5-0. We need to come out with a one-minute full-court press, let the other team know they are in a real ballgame at the start. Then move back into the regular defense. A few minutes later go back into the full-court press.
Two full-court presses within the first five minutes of the game will leave our opposing team in disarray, even the University of Connecticut. It will screw up their game plan. Whenever we put on our full-court press, the other team panics. Coach Joe McKeown should try it in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It will work. Let’s go at them, get them, be real tough.
