News Brief: Female reports robbery

A female reported she was robbed at the intersection of 24th and H streets early Thursday morning, according to a crime alert posted by University Police Thursday.

She reported a black man threatened to strike her with a silver, metallic rod with a black knob on the handle at 2:50 a.m. if she did not hand over the bag she was carrying. The woman gave up the bag and the suspect fled west on H Street, entered a vehicle and left the area, according to the crime alert.

Metropolitan Police and UPD responded after the suspect had departed the area.

The suspect was described as a black male, 27 to 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes wearing blue jeans and a blue and red shirt.

The vehicle was believed to be dark-colored with four doors, possibly a Plymouth with Virginia license plate YJX2502, according to the crime alert.
