Tennis beats up Bison

The GW men’s tennis team defeated the Howard Bison Friday afternoon winning its match 6-1 in convincing fashion. Matt Hane led the Colonials with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win at the No. 1 singles position. Hane was one of five GW singles players to win in straight sets. GW’s only loss was at the No. 5 singles when Mike Melen lost a thrilling 6-7, 6-3, 7-10 match to Khalid Salea-Eddine.

In doubles play, Hane and Drew Zamansky dominated Howard’s Cal Duddley and Dwayne Pagon at the No. 1 doubles, winning 8-2. Melen responded from his tough loss by teaming with Kevin Wright in a 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Kinzie Wright and Brett Warner shutout their Howard opponents 8-0.

The 5-4 tennis team next competes March 9-10 when it travels to Fordham and then Massachusetts.
