Thousands of protesters descended upon Washington, DC to protest the April 16th and 17th, 2000, meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The headquarters of these institutions lie next to the George Washington University campus, and so GWU took center stage in the protests, being shut down for 3 days for security reasons and because most of the campus was blocked off. Hatchet photographers went out and took these photographs to chronicle this unusual and exciting event. |
