SA supports GW campus plan

The Student Association Senate unanimously passed a resolution supporting GW’s proposed campus plan Wednesday night.

The SA supported GW’s campus plan last spring with reservations and reviewed proposals the University added to the campus plan last summer at the request of administrators.

When going in front of the (D.C.) Board of Zoning Adjustment, it looks good to have the students behind (the plan), said J.P. Blackford, SA Senate Rules Committee chair, who sponsored the resolution.

Last year’s resolution to support GW’s campus plan passed with several conditions, including a provision that the University keeps student enrollment proportional to available facilities.

(The resolution) is representing what 20,000 students felt about the campus plan, Blackford said.

The SA added a new provision Wednesday, asking GW to create a Foggy Bottom Student Resident Code of Conduct for students living off campus to address issues that relate to residential environments rather than residence halls. On-campus students would still abide by GW’s Code of Conduct.
