Debate decisive

A recent radio debate between the four candidates for D.C. delegate to the House of Representatives helped me make up my mind about who to vote for. I was impressed with Libertarian candidate Rob Kampia’s willingness to admit that marijuana prohibition doesn’t work.

As he pointed out, the war on drugs has been an utter failure. Despite decades of locking up marijuana users, the drug is still in teens’ hands. And marijuana arrests are at an all-time high, costing taxpayers billions of dollars every year. It’s time to consider other options, such as replacing prohibition with regulation and treatment.

Rob Kampia knows it’s time to take a new approach, and I hope my vote will help do that.-Kristy Gomessenior
