Last Thursday night the Three Wise Men headed to Kokopooli’s, a pool hall/bar near Adams Morgan. The walk took about 15 minutes, but was well worth the effort.

Inside, the place is a what you would expect of a pool hall: dimly lit, smoke-filled and lined with billiard tables. Modern rock ‘n’ roll tunes played from the speakers and couches filled in the spaces between tables.

At least eight tables are scattered about the place, so Johnny, Jack and Jos? had no trouble finding one. Once you find an open table, all you need to do is exchange your ID for a rack of balls and you are ready to play.

The Wise Men played a couple hours worth of eight-ball while sipping on a few pitchers of beer. The beer was reasonably priced at $10 a pitcher for most of the low-end brands. With the free games of billiards, it was definitely worth the price.

After tiring of eight-ball, Johnny, Jack and Jos? headed over to the three dart boards in the bar and played a few games of cricket to pass the remainder of the evening.

We all agreed. Kokopooli’s is not a place to spend every weekend night, but if you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a few bar games, it is a great place to go.
