Basketball player hosts food drive

GW basketball player SirValiant Brown will host a food drive Friday night to benefit local charities.

Brown will host the event to help So Others Might Eat, a homeless shelter located at 71 O St., NW, that offers food, clothing, housing and job training.

Last year I was seeing so many homeless people and I didn’t like it, Brown said.

Brown distributed fliers throughout campus to publicize the event.

Students can drop off non-perishable food at collection boxes at the Smith Center entrance during Midnight Madness, the official kick-off to the 2000-01 basketball season, Friday night.

Brown, a sophomore shooting guard, was the nation’s second-leading scorer last year.-Jason Steinhardt
