Crossfire visits GW

CNN will air its political debate program Crossfire live from GW’s Lisner Auditorium Oct. 2-6. One show will air each of the five days starting at 7:30 p.m.

Hosts Bill Press, Mary Matalin and Robert Novack, along with the week’s guests, will take questions from the audience during the five shows.

Tickets have been on sale for a week, and are free to GW students with a GWorld card.

The week’s topics will focus on the 2000 campaign and the presidential and vice presidential debates that begin Oct. 3.

The show’s guests have not yet been announced.

Press spoke to GW students last October about the presidential candidates, according to an Oct. 28, 1999 article in The Hatchet.

He told students he disagreed with presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s assertion that the Democratic and Republican parties are identical.

Matalin and Novack alternate on the show as the conservative viewpoint, while Press represents the liberal perspective.

The program can be viewed on CNN all week, as well as online at www.cnn.com.-Sarah Lechner
