DC Reads Programs

Communities in Schools (NE D.C.) – One-on-one tutoring program that serves children in three public elementary schools.

For Love of Children (Shaw) – Build reading and math skills of elementary and junior high school students.

Growing Together (Upper NW D.C.) – Tutors work with students ages 5 to 14 who need help in reading, writing, math and science.

Heads Up (Adams Morgan) – Nonprofit organization that runs education and enrichment programs for children and families in low-income neighborhoods.

Preschool Jumpstart (various locations) – Trains pre-school children to build skills critical to school success. Students work 10-month terms

Sarah House – Tutors work with middle and high school students in the Shaw neighborhood.

Project 2000 (SE D.C.) – Provides academic support services and mentoring to inner-city African-American children, particularly boys.
