Barguys visit Whitlow’s on Wilson

Bar: Whitlow’s on Wilson
2854 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va.
(703) 276-9693

This past Saturday night, The Three Wise Men were looking for a different crowd and a little bit of live music. Despite the fact that Johnnie was on the Disabled List (girlfriend, day to day), Jack and Jos? headed to Whitlow’s on Wilson, just off the Clarendon stop on the orange line in Arlington. The bar features live bands most nights of the week for a modest $5 cover.

The place is huge. Despite the large crowd of 20- and 30-somethings, the Wise Men had no trouble finding room to sit or stand. Off to the side, Whitlow’s has four pool tables and a fooseball table, so even if good music and good drinks aren’t enough, fun is just a few feet away.

Jack and Jos? chose simply to enjoy several hours of excellent ska tunes by The Velveteens and Eastern Standard Time while drinking $10 pitchers of Shiner Bock, the special of the night. Although there was little room to dance, many of the patrons were jumpin’ and jivin’ near the stage.

The Wise Men and their entourage called it quits at about 1:30 a.m. and found it refreshing to know that the Metro was still open and only a block away. It made the trip much easier on the wallet than a normal night on the town.

Jack and Jos? give Whitlow’s on Wilson high ratings all around and they will definitely be making a repeat visit sometime soon.
